RECECCA ANDERSON’S grandparents were believed to be JOHN ANDERSON, SR and SARAH CARNEY.  John, Sr. was served in the Revolutionary War as a minute man.  This John Anderson did not name in his will a son named John, so there is some question that John who married Sarah is actually the grandparents of Rebecca.

Several researchers say that Abner W. Sweat born 1776 in Cheraw District,
South Carolina, was a son of Rev. James Sweat, but Rev. James Sweat was
born in 1764. He married (1) Joanna O'Neal in 1784, and (2) Susanna
Anderson in 1799. However, it is relatively certain that Abner W. Sweat
was related to Rev. James Sweat, because of when and where he was born,
and was probably his nephew. There are two possibilities:

The 1790 Census for Beaufort District, South Carolina, has William Sweat
[born 1755, older brother of Rev. James Sweat] with 1 male over 16
[himself], 3 males under 16 [William, Jr., unknown, unknown], and 2

The 1790 Census for Beaufort District, South Carolina, has John Sweat
[born 1759, older brother of Rev. James Sweat] with 1 male over 16
[himself], 1 male under 16 [unknown], and 2 females.

The 1830 Census for Bulloch County, Georgia, has Abner W. Sweat with 1
male and 1 female 40-50 [himself, understating his age, and his wife], 1
male 20-30 [Samuel], 1 male and 1 female 15-20 [unknown], 1 male and 2
females 10-15 [Allen, Rebecca, Charity], 1 female 5-10 [Nancy], 2 males
under 5 [James, Alfred] and 1 female under 5 [Mary].

The 1840 Census for Columbia, Florida Territory, has Abner Sweat with 1
male 60-70 [himself], 1 female 50-60 [his wife], 1 male 20-30 [Allen], 1
male 15-20 [James], 1 male and 1 female 10-15 [Alfred, Mary], and 1
female 5-10 [Eliza].

The 1850 Census for Columbia County, Florida, has: [Ancestry.com has

Letter to Nancy Ann Sweat from her husband Rowland Williams

July 8th, 1866

My Dear Annie,

I take pen in hand to write you again before leaving for home.  I am not feeling very well and am sad and depressed at seeing such a change in this part of the country.

Lizzie an I went to Ma's and Pa's grave and took some flowers.  You know that Ma died when I was born and Pa the following year, she says that Ma had always been a little frail creature.  I wish I could have known them, but God's will be done.  She gave me Ma's feather bed and I am going to bring it home with me.

The doctor does not give me much incouragement, he is afraid it is a cancer, but don't worry they don't know everything.  Hope Bekky is better now, if it is necessary sell the cows and call on Jim, he will help you until I get home.  I had word from Nath, he thinks he will be able to come home soon.  You would not know Lizzie now, she must weigh at least 200 pounds and always jolly in spite of all her burdens.

I will be glad to get home to see you and the children.

                                        Your loving husband,

Nancy Ann Sweat Williams was the daughter of Abner Sweat and Rebecca Anderson.
